New Delhi, March 30 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the significance of fitness in our everyday lives on Sunday, commending initiatives like the Fit India Carnival and International Yoga Day, which have not only motivated Indians but also resonated globally.

In the 120th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat', PM Modi applauded the participants of the Khelo India Para Games, highlighting their commitment and enthusiasm.

"We will now discuss igniting your passion… About showcasing determination in the face of obstacles. In the recent Khelo India Para Games, athletes once again amazed everyone with their hard work and skill. This edition saw a higher number of participants than before, reflecting the growing popularity of Para Sports. I commend all the athletes for their remarkable efforts," he stated.

He extended congratulations to Haryana, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh for clinching the first, second, and third places, respectively, and noted that differently-abled athletes set 18 national records, with 12 of those achieved by female competitors.

PM Modi shared a heartfelt letter from arm wrestler Joby Mathew, who secured a gold medal at this year's Khelo India Para Games. Mathew wrote, "Winning a medal is incredibly special, but the journey goes beyond just standing on the podium. We battle daily. Life challenges us in numerous ways… few grasp our struggles. Nevertheless, we forge ahead with courage, striving to realize our dreams. We believe we are equal to anyone else."

Recognizing Mathew's tenacity, PM Modi replied, "Wonderful! Joby Mathew, your letter is extraordinary. Thank you for sharing it. I want to express to Joby Mathew and all our differently-abled friends that your endeavors are a significant inspiration to us all."

He also commended the Fit India Carnival, held in Delhi for the first time, as a creative initiative.

"Approximately 25,000 individuals from various sectors took part. Each had a unified aim - to maintain fitness and promote fitness awareness. Participants gained insights into health and nutrition. I encourage you to organize similar carnivals in your locality. MY-Bharat can significantly support you in this effort," he added.

PM Modi remarked on how India's traditional games are becoming acknowledged in mainstream culture, referencing rapper Hanumankind's song 'Run It Up'.

"Our indigenous martial arts like Kalaripayattu, Gatka, and Thang-Ta have been featured in it. I congratulate Hanumankind for introducing our traditional martial arts to a global audience," he stated.

Discussing the significance of fitness in contemporary life, he remarked, "Count your daily steps, tally the calories consumed, and measure the calories burned… amidst these counts, another countdown is approaching. The countdown to International Yoga Day. Less than 100 days remain until Yoga Day. If you haven't integrated yoga into your routine, now is the time… it’s not too late!"

Reflecting on the inaugural International Yoga Day on June 21, 2015, he characterized it as a celebration of yoga that has intensified in importance over time. "Yoga is an invaluable gift from India to the world. It will be immensely beneficial for future generations," he affirmed.

He announced the theme for Yoga Day 2025 as 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', symbolizing a dedication to global wellness through yoga.

"It is a source of pride for us that curiosity about our yoga and traditional medicine is surging worldwide. Many young people are embracing yoga and Ayurveda as exceptional means for wellness," he stated.

Highlighting the global acceptance of Ayurveda, PM Modi provided an example from Chile, where Ayurveda is rapidly gaining traction.

"Last year, during my visit to Brazil, I engaged with the President of Chile. We had extensive discussions about Ayurveda's increasing popularity. I learned about a group called Somos India, which translates to 'We are India' in Spanish."

"This group has been advocating for yoga and Ayurveda for nearly a decade, focusing on both treatment and educational programs. They are also translating information related to yoga and Ayurveda into Spanish. In the past year alone, around 9,000 individuals participated in their various events and courses. I congratulate everyone involved with this initiative for their efforts," he concluded.
