Lucknow, Nov 30 (NationPress) The Uttar Pradesh administration has unveiled a comprehensive array of welfare initiatives dedicated to enhancing economic, social, and legal security for women, asserting that its policies under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are crafted to offer support "from birth to old age".

According to an official announcement, the state has established an integrated framework of schemes addressing the upbringing, nutrition, education, financial independence, and social security of girls. The government noted that allocations in the 2025 state budget demonstrate a renewed commitment to the welfare of girl children, marriage assistance, and old-age support, indicating a sustained focus on women-centric programs.

"Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has enacted extensive policy reforms to ensure economic, social, and legal security for women throughout their lives. The state has designed a holistic framework of programs that offer protection and support from the birth of a girl child, encompassing nutrition, economic independence, property ownership, and aging," the statement read.

Among the key initiatives emphasized is the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which grants financial assistance at pivotal moments in a girl’s life, extending from birth to graduation.

"With government schemes reaching every segment of society in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's administration is ensuring the holistic development of all. In this context, the Chief Minister's Kanya Sumangala Yojana, tailored for girls, has proven to be exceptionally effective, offering financial support for their education and upbringing, thus alleviating the burden on millions of families," the note stated.

Officials indicated that this scheme has significantly reduced the financial strain on many low-income families while enhancing the enrollment and retention of girls in educational institutions. The administration also pointed out the Mass Marriage Scheme, which provides assistance to economically disadvantaged families during their daughters' weddings.

The statement emphasized that the government is dedicated to ensuring that “no family suffers financial hardship due to the birth or marriage of a girl child”. Officials highlighted that the expansive reach of welfare programs in recent years has facilitated deeper social and economic inclusion within the state.

The government also emphasized initiatives aimed at promoting women's property ownership, identifying it as a vital instrument for long-term empowerment. A one percent reduction in stamp duty for properties registered in a woman's name—applicable for transactions up to Rs 1 crore—has been maintained to encourage more women to become land and homeowners. According to the government, this concession aims to foster financial stability and boost women’s involvement in household asset creation.

"Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's administration has also prioritized property ownership to enhance women's economic standing. The state is providing a one percent stamp duty exemption on property registration in women's names, significantly lowering transaction costs for properties valued up to Rs 1 crore. This provision not only motivates women to become property owners but also offers them financial security and social respect. The Yogi government asserts that when women achieve financial independence, families and society collectively grow stronger," the statement read.

To assist older women and those facing vulnerabilities, the state has expanded the coverage of old-age pensions and disability pensions, which provide monthly financial support. These benefits are designed to ensure that women “do not feel insecure or neglected at any stage of life”.

In presenting these schemes as part of a continuous support system, the government stated that Uttar Pradesh is committed to establishing an ecosystem where women have access to protection, opportunities, and dignity throughout their lives. It claimed that the state’s approach is contributing to stronger families and communities and aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a leader in women-centered policy reforms.
