Yogi Adityanath hands appointment letters to 481 candidates in UP AYUSH, Skill Depts
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday, 7 May 2025, distributed appointment letters to 481 selected candidates at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Lucknow, covering recruitments across the AYUSH Department, the Vocational Education and Skill Development Department, and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. The event was part of the state government's ongoing push under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mission Rozgar' initiative, which has so far provided government jobs to more than 9 lakh youths in Uttar Pradesh.
Key Appointments Across Departments
Of the 481 appointees, 202 candidates — including professors, medical officers, and staff nurses — were inducted into the AYUSH Department. A further 272 trained instructors were appointed under the Vocational Education and Skill Development Department, while the remaining positions went to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Chief Minister Adityanath described the appointments as a step toward realising Prime Minister Modi's vision for accessible and transparent public employment.
Merit, Transparency, and Technology at the Core
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Adityanath firmly ruled out any role of political influence or recommendations in the selection process. "If any corrupt individual sneaks into the system, he would hollow out the entire government machinery for the next 30 to 35 years," he cautioned. He credited the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) and the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) for enforcing accountability and deploying technology to ensure a fair process. "No one could have imagined that youths in Uttar Pradesh would receive government jobs through a fair, transparent, and smooth process," he said.
UP's Record in Government Appointments
The Chief Minister noted that Thursday's event was the fourth appointment letter distribution programme organised within the last 15 days, underscoring the pace of recruitment under his administration. He asserted that over the past 9 years, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the state providing the highest number of government appointments in the country. He added that the state, once counted among the bottom three in national rankings, is now among the top three.
AYUSH, MSME, and Industrial Growth
Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the transformative potential of the AYUSH sector, calling for the strengthening of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in villages and greater promotion of traditional systems of treatment. He also urged farmers to cultivate medicinal plants to support the sector's growth and attract health tourism. On the industrial front, he stated that more than 4,000 major industries came to Uttar Pradesh last year alone, with the total number of large industries in the state rising from 14,000 to more than 32,000 over the past nine years. The MSME sector, he said, now employs more than 3 crore people in the state — a sharp contrast to what he described as an atmosphere of disorder and hopelessness before 2017.
Skill Development and Modernised ITIs
Adityanath highlighted that the state, in collaboration with Tata Technologies, has modernised more than 150 ITIs and introduced certificate courses in Artificial Intelligence, Drone Technology, Cyber Security, Space Technology, Robotics, and 3D Printing. The 272 newly appointed instructors are expected to play a central role in accelerating this skilling agenda. With more appointment drives expected in the coming weeks, the state government appears set to maintain its recruitment momentum ahead of the next electoral cycle.
