Zero Electricity Bills: Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana Transforms Shivpuri

Shivpuri, April 23 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is proving to be a revolutionary project in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district, providing significant relief to families struggling with hefty electricity expenses.

Thanks to the installation of rooftop solar panels under this scheme, residents are now enjoying zero electricity bills and receiving government subsidies of up to Rs 78,000. For many, this initiative represents a true shift towards energy independence.

In conversations with IANS, numerous beneficiaries revealed how their lives have been transformed by this program.

Madan Singh Tomar, a local resident, shared that he discovered the scheme through television.

"Previously, my electricity bill soared to Rs 5,000 each month. Now, it’s only Rs 500. I’ve installed a 5 kW solar panel that produces about 30–31 units daily. We utilize 15–17 units ourselves, while the surplus is sent back to the grid," he explained.

Ranjit Raje Bhosale added to this positive feedback.

"We used to incur monthly bills exceeding Rs 5,000. Since installing solar panels, we’ve reduced our costs by nearly 99 percent. I had mine installed through Sun Heaven Energy Pvt Ltd, and they offered outstanding, prompt service," he mentioned.

Manoj Agarwal also recounted his experience, saying, “My electricity bill has plummeted from Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000, and now it's completely zero. Immediately upon hearing about the scheme, I opted for solar panels. This initiative is a blessing for every household—everyone should seize this opportunity.”

The installation of a 5 kW solar system under this initiative costs approximately Rs 3 lakh, and beneficiaries receive a direct subsidy of Rs 78,000, making it both affordable and exceptionally cost-effective over time.

Aman Agarwal, Director of Sun Heaven Energy Pvt Ltd, highlighted their dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.

"We supply premium solar equipment and guarantee a seamless experience for our clients. Our structures are crafted from JSW galvanized iron, designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 150 km/hr. Unlike others who use regular iron, we prioritize quality," he stressed.

He also mentioned that they employ Adani Group’s bifacial Tyrevent-category panels, which come with a 25-year warranty. Their inverters are sourced from reputable brands like Sangrah and Waaree, which also have a 10-year warranty.

"We provide something distinctive—five years of complimentary service. Our team performs cleaning and inspections every three months. Very few vendors offer this level of continuous support," he concluded.

Launched in 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the scheme has already introduced solar energy to millions of households across the nation. In Shivpuri alone, numerous families are enjoying its advantages, and the numbers continue to grow.

For families facing escalating electricity bills, this initiative has become a true blessing. Beyond financial savings, it's a significant advancement towards energy self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability.
