Guwahati, Jan 15 (NationPress) Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday refrained from discussing the ongoing proceedings in Singapore’s coroner’s court regarding the passing of acclaimed singer Zubeen Garg, emphasizing the need for political figures to exercise caution in matters that are currently under judicial review.
In response to media inquiries, CM Sarma indicated that the investigation by the Singapore Police has concluded, with a report presented to the court in Singapore, where it is presently under judicial examination.
He underscored that the legal proceedings in Singapore and the investigation being conducted in Assam operate independently, each governed by distinct jurisdictions and legal protocols.
“The information that has emerged in the media is also what I have seen. Their investigation and ours are separate processes, each adhering to its own legal framework,” the Chief Minister stated, adding that providing further comments on the matter at this juncture would be inappropriate.
CM Sarma warned that remarks from political leaders regarding sensitive issues before the court could lead to misinterpretations and unnecessary speculation.
“Given that the case is in court, politicians should refrain from interference. We must avoid commenting on what has been noted by the court,” he expressed.
The Chief Minister’s comments arise amidst heightened public interest following reports from Singapore’s coroner’s court concerning the details surrounding the singer’s death.
Simultaneously, the Assam Police continues its own investigation in accordance with Indian law.
Authorities have reiterated that the Assam inquiry is progressing independently and will consider all pertinent aspects within its scope.
The state government has affirmed its commitment to allowing the legal processes—both domestic and international—to unfold without political influence, highlighting the necessity of respecting judicial proceedings in a case that has captured widespread public interest.
