New Delhi, Feb 7 (NationPress) Following successful initiatives for medicinal plants such as amla, moringa, giloe, and ashwagandha, the Ayush Ministry has initiated a new campaign focusing on the Shatavari plant to enhance health.
The campaign, titled “Shatavari – For Better Health”, was inaugurated by Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, on Thursday.
Jadhav underscored the significance of Shatavari in achieving the Panch Pran Goal set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day address on August 15, 2022.
“The Prime Minister envisions transforming India into a developed nation by its 100th Independence celebration in 2047. In line with this ambition, the Shatavari plant has been recognized as a vital resource for improving women’s health in India, contributing to the overall well-being of the populace,” Jadhav stated.
He further commended the remarkable advancements made by the Ministry of Ayush over the past decade and praised the efforts of the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) for introducing this initiative to raise awareness regarding Shatavari.
Celebrating past successful campaigns, he remarked, “These efforts have played a crucial role in disseminating knowledge about the health benefits of medicinal plants nationwide.”
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, expanded on the NMPB's activities and successes in promoting medicinal plants. He also provided details on the Central Sector Scheme for the Conservation, Development, and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants, aimed at ensuring the long-term preservation and cultivation of essential medicinal species, including Shatavari.
“Shatavari is particularly advantageous for women’s health,” stated Dr. Mahesh Kumar Dadhich, CEO, NMPB, highlighting its medicinal significance. He also discussed the economic potential of this plant.
“Financial support totaling Rs 18.9 lakh will be allocated to qualifying organizations to aid the campaign, promoting greater awareness and broader adoption of Shatavari within the public health framework,” Dadhich added.
