New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) In light of the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) has mandated that ports offer concessions to exporters with cargo stranded in the conflict-affected Persian Gulf area.
A recent circular stated, “it has come to our attention that concessions provided by port authorities, particularly regarding detention fees, ground rent, reefer plug-in (connected load), and other terminal charges, are not being consistently passed on to exporters.”
The DG Shipping directive emphasizes that all concessions sanctioned by Port Authorities must be transparently conveyed to relevant stakeholders, including freight forwarders and NVOCCs, who are expected to relay these benefits to exporters.
