New Delhi, Dec 1 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative for significantly boosting fitness awareness across the nation.

During his radio talk show Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, PM Modi commended this initiative.

“Numerous competitions are gaining popularity among our youth. Many individuals are joining in activities like Fit India Sundays on Cycle. These initiatives are effective methods to advocate for fitness,” remarked the Prime Minister in the 128th episode of Mann Ki Baat.

Rajasthan Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who spearheaded the 51st edition of the nationwide cycling event on November 30 from Jaipur, acknowledged PM Modi’s continuous motivation in fostering a culture of improved health and wellness.

“There are few Prime Ministers globally who consistently urge their citizens to prioritize health and wellbeing. Narendra Modi has repeatedly emphasized the importance of Fit India,” stated Rathore.

“From decreasing our oil consumption to incorporating millets (shree anna) into our diets and actively campaigning against obesity, our Prime Minister has continuously encouraged us to adopt fitness measures, whether through yoga, cycling, running, or other avenues. The movement sparked by Sundays on Cycle exemplifies this initiative,” added the Athens 2004 Olympic silver medallist.

The Fit India Sundays on Cycle commenced in December 2024 under the leadership of Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya.

This event has become a weekly occurrence, reinforcing PM Modi's vision: “Fitness Ka Dose, Adha Ghanta Roz” and “Fight Against Obesity”.

Sundays on Cycle has evolved into a genuine public movement, with ordinary citizens taking the initiative nationwide.

Over 4,000 NaMo Fit India Cycling Clubs, alongside countless citizens, cycle regularly and participate weekly, transforming this initiative into a community-led fitness revolution. These clubs conduct the event on a weekly basis.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) also ensures a comprehensive nationwide presence with SoC activities conducted across its network of SAI Training Centres (STCs), which include locations like Kokrajhar in Assam, Jagatpur and Badal in Punjab, Utlou in Manipur, Kargil in Ladakh, among others.

Additionally, the initiative is being held at several Khelo India Centers, including Bhadrak, Jharsuguda, and Dhenkanal, as well as across 23 SAI National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs) nationwide, every Sunday.
