New Delhi, Feb 23 (NationPress) Sports Minister Manuskh Mandaviya spearheaded the Fit India Sundays on Cycle campaign in the National Capital, accompanied by members of cycling clubs and Olympic rower Arjun Lal Jat.
This week's special guests included representatives from industry bodies FICCI and CII, along with members from fitness brand Decathlon, Yoga Bharat, and My Bharat.
Entering its ninth week, the Fit India Sundays on Cycle has evolved into a nationwide fitness movement, with cyclists participating in over 1200 locations this week alone. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to combat obesity through reduced oil consumption by 10 percent, regular exercise, and healthy eating, the Sports Minister dedicated this initiative to the national struggle against obesity.
During the event, the Sports Minister stated, "In our battle against obesity initiated by the PM, we must unite to integrate daily fitness activities into our lives. Cycling is one of the simplest exercises, and it significantly benefits the environment by lowering carbon footprints and addressing pollution issues."
The Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative invites a diverse set of participants each week, including army personnel, postmen, and wellness experts. This week, representatives from corporate India also played a vital role in supporting and participating in the campaign.
Discussing the initiative's significance, Vidushpat Singhania, treasurer of Sportscom, CII, remarked, "I commend the Sports Minister for launching this initiative. A healthy nation is a prosperous nation, as good health correlates with enhanced productivity and a higher GDP. Our aim as an industry body is to encourage more corporates to join the Fit India Sundays on Cycle and support this movement."
