During his leadership of the Indian delegation at the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh emphasized the potential for enhancing India-UAE collaboration in climate action and biodiversity.
“As pivotal global partners, India and the UAE have a distinctive chance to work together on innovative strategies that tackle urgent environmental issues,” Singh remarked during a bilateral dialogue with UAE Environment Minister Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi.
He expressed gratitude toward the UAE for its crucial role in advocating for the Global South's interests at the CoP28, transforming it into a ‘COP of Action’, which has led to significant decisions, including funding for loss and damage and the Global Goal on Adaptation.
Reaffirming India's dedication to tackling climate change and protecting biodiversity, Singh acknowledged the UAE-driven ambitious climate initiative, the Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC), co-led by the UAE and Indonesia. He highlighted it as an exemplary model of multilateral cooperation aimed at enhancing climate resilience and conserving biodiversity.
The Minister extended his appreciation to his UAE counterpart for the valued partnership in Indian initiatives like the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Industry Coalition (RECEIC).
He also called on the UAE to participate in India’s global initiatives such as the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), while advocating for support of India’s visionary projects like ‘Mission LiFE’ aimed at promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle. The UAE Minister expressed a keen interest in learning about Mission LiFE for potential implementation in their nation.
