New Delhi, March 11 (NationPress) Indian women have showcased their limitless potential and capabilities on a global stage, stated Annapurna Devi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development (WCD), during her address at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Devi made these remarks while participating in the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN, where she presented India's statement at the Ministerial Forum. She emphasized the worldwide advancements and challenges in achieving gender equality, empowering women, and fully realizing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

“It fills me with pride to represent India at the @UNHeadquarters and to highlight the strength of women in our nation and their achievements. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the women of India have demonstrated their unlimited capabilities to the world,” Devi expressed in a post on the social media platform X.

Throughout the session, the Minister detailed India's progress on gender equality, addressing 12 critical areas of concern.

The government’s flagship initiatives “have played a crucial role in enhancing health, nutrition, education, and economic opportunities for women and children” in India, stated Devi.

The Minister reaffirmed the Government of India’s steadfast commitment to the empowerment, protection, and overall development of women and children across the country.

“Our aim is to ensure that every woman and girl has access to their rights and entitlements,” Devi remarked, adding that “the welfare of women and children is at the heart of our nation’s progress.”

“Through a comprehensive approach, we are striving for a future where every woman is empowered and every child is nurtured in a safe and supportive environment,” the Minister noted.

The session saw significant participation from all UN member states, intergovernmental organizations, the private sector, philanthropists, academia, civil society, women’s groups, and UN agencies.
