New Delhi, Oct 23 (NationPress) Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan celebrated the remarkable ascent of India from the 81st position in 2015 to the 38th position in the Global Innovation Index 2025. He highlighted the increase in patents, scientific publications, and technology-driven growth.
During a meeting with Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Jitendra Singh, along with officials from various Ministries at Parliament House, Radhakrishnan praised the efforts made to fortify India’s innovation-centric scientific ecosystem and boost research in cutting-edge technologies.
He was informed about significant initiatives and ongoing programs aimed at enhancing scientific research and innovation, technology development, and commercialization. These initiatives include advancements in biotechnology, quantum computing, and cybersecurity systems, in addition to studies related to meteorology, climate, oceans, and disaster risk mitigation.
The Vice President appreciated the country's innovations in vaccine development, the BharatGenAI large language model, and strides in quantum computing.
Radhakrishnan also stressed the significance of ethical biotechnology research, motivating youth to embark on scientific careers, and fostering collaboration with industry.
He pointed out the swift advancements in weather forecasting and the immense prospects of India’s blue economy, urging for sustained global partnerships to keep India at the cutting edge of scientific progress.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry, met with Radhakrishnan at Parliament House. During this meeting, the Vice President was briefed on the Ministry’s pivotal initiatives and ongoing activities, which encompass the current status of manufacturing and foreign trade, efforts to improve ease of doing business, and major initiatives like Make in India, the PLI Scheme, PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, Start-up India, the National Manufacturing Mission, FTAs, One District One Product, industrial corridors, SEZs, and intellectual property rights protection.
The Vice President commended the Ministry’s endeavors in positioning India as a global hub for manufacturing and exports, emphasizing the necessity for coordinated actions across departments to realize the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
