New Delhi, Feb 12 (NationPress) The Mahakumbh 2025 is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, remarked Erik Solheim, the former Minister of Climate and Environment of Norway, on Wednesday.

In a conversation with IANS, he recounted his spiritual journey of taking a holy dip in the Ganga at the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Solheim immersed himself in the sacred waters at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythological Saraswati rivers converge, on January 31.

“It was an absolute once-in-a-lifetime experience,” declared Solheim. He described the grand event not only as the largest spiritual congregation globally but also the most significant gathering of humanity witnessed anywhere.

“Never in history, at no other location... America, Europe, China, has 400 million individuals united in such a brief period to honor their gods,” the former Norwegian minister expressed to IANS.

He noted that while attendees have journeyed to Prayagraj to “immerse in the Ganga and embark on a spiritual and emotional journey,” they also cultivate new friendships and share precious moments with family and friends.

The experienced diplomat described it as a “wonderful experience” to observe the “joy of countless individuals arriving from small towns and villages across India.”

Expressing gratitude for being part of this monumental event, he remarked that one would need to wait another 144 years for the next Mahakumbh. The Mahakumbh occurs every 144 years, with the Purna Kumbh every 12 years, and the Ardh Kumbh every six years.

Previously, Solheim shared his spiritual connection at the MahaKumbh on the social media platform X.

“A wonderful reflection on Oneness at the Mahakumbh! The Kumbh in Prayagraj is a profound spiritual event, centering around the dip in the Ganga. It’s a magnificent festival celebrating life, but also serves as a space for introspection,” he commented.

The Mahakumbh 2025 is a spiritual festival attracting crores of devotees globally seeking to take a dip of faith to ‘purify their souls’. The Triveni Sangam has witnessed an average of 1.44 crore pilgrims partaking in daily holy dips. The grand event will persist until February 26.
