New Delhi, Oct 31 (NationPress) Union Minister of Consumer Affairs and New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, emphasized on Friday that we are making significant strides towards a cleaner, greener, and energy-secure northeast, fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of prosperity through sustainability.
While speaking at the ‘Regional Workshop on Renewable Energy’ in Guwahati, Assam, he remarked that the northeast, referred to as Ashtalakshmi, is evolving into Urja-Lakshmi under the insightful leadership of PM Modi.
“I commended the remarkable progress of states for their outstanding renewable capacity share, reviewed the advancements in flagship schemes, and discussed actionable strategies to tap into the region’s vast potential in solar energy, small hydro, green hydrogen, and biomass,” the minister shared with attendees.
He also honored Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of India's unity and integrity, during his 150th birth anniversary in Guwahati.
“His vision continues to fuel inspiration across generations to enhance the spirit of unity,” Joshi stated in a message on the X social media platform.
During a prior event in New Delhi on October 26, the minister highlighted that the northeastern region has experienced remarkable transformation under PM Modi’s vision, with substantial investments in tourism, industry, and skill development.
Frequent visits, dedicated initiatives, and focused governance are driving unprecedented growth throughout the northeastern region.
All northeastern states are now accessible by rail, air, and highways, with significant investments in tourism, industry, and skill development. We are committed to creating an India where every citizen, region, and culture flourishes with equal opportunities, Joshi affirmed.
The expenditure by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) for projects in the northeast reached an all-time high of Rs 3,447.71 crore for FY 2024–25 — representing a 74.4 percent increase over the previous year and over 200 percent growth in three years.
Regular review mechanisms and digital tracking via the 'Poorvottar Vikas Setu' portal have enhanced transparency and efficiency, resulting in 97 percent project inspection coverage and 91 percent operationalization of completed projects, as noted by Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M.
