Global Smart Glasses Shipments Surge 139%; India Experiences 15-Fold Growth
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) The global shipments of smart glasses experienced a remarkable increase of 139% year-on-year in the second half of CY25, propelled by Meta's expanding range of products, the launch of new AI smart glasses models, and seasonal demand, as highlighted in a report released on Monday.
The report by Counterpoint Research indicated that India witnessed a staggering 15-fold rise in smart glasses shipments during H2 CY25, following Meta’s official launch in the nation in May 2025. Despite this growth, India's share of global shipments was still a modest 2%.
During this period, AI smart glasses made up a significant 88% of all shipments, as the demand for basic smart audio glasses waned, shifting the market focus towards AI-enabled devices, according to the report.
Looking ahead, smart glasses shipments are anticipated to continue their upward trajectory into 2026 and beyond, buoyed by aggressive market strategies from leading companies and the introduction of new brands. However, rising memory prices may present some challenges, as forecasted by the research firm.
“Currently, AI glasses maintain relatively high gross margins, and since memory costs constitute only a small fraction of the overall expenses, we expect any impact from price increases to be minimal for the time being,” the report stated.
India is on the brink of introducing its first AI glasses, with various players preparing to enter the market. In contrast, China’s share dropped to 6% in H2 CY25, despite a rise in shipment volumes.
The global retail average selling price (ASP) of AI smart glasses rose to approximately $360 in H2 CY25, up from $347 in the first half of 2025.
Even though numerous products were launched in China by the end of 2025, most were shipped in comparatively limited quantities.
North America retained its position as the largest market, accounting for 37% of shipments, while Western Europe’s share increased to 30%.
“The strong momentum in AI glasses can be attributed to seasonal demand, Meta’s expanding product lineup, and a surge of new launches from several Chinese vendors, including Li Auto, Rokid, BOLON, Baidu, and Meizu,” the report concluded.
