Abu Dhabi T10: UP Nawabs and Team Abu Dhabi Move Closer to Playoff Qualification

Abu Dhabi, November 30 (NationPress) - UP Nawabs clinched victory against Bangla Tigers in their concluding round-robin face-off of the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 League at the Zayed Cricket Stadium. This win awarded UP two significant points, elevating their total to 8 points across 7 matches.

Bangla Tigers batted first but could only compile a total of 87/4 in 10 overs. The opening pair of Afghani batsmen, Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad, initiated the innings positively, forming a partnership of 44 runs for the first wicket. However, Zazai's exit for 24 runs off 23 balls put them at a disadvantage.

They quickly lost additional wickets and struggled to regain momentum during their innings. Iftikhar Ahmed from Pakistan attempted to accelerate their scoring with a quick 27 runs off 15 deliveries, but it was insufficient for the Tigers to establish a competitive total.

Tymal Mills demonstrated exceptional bowling skills for UP Nawabs, utilizing his slower deliveries effectively and finishing with remarkable figures of 3/9 in just 2 overs.

During the chase, Nawabs faced an early challenge as opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz fell for 2 runs off 6 balls. Nevertheless, Avishka Fernando, Andre Fletcher, and Najibullah Zadran ensured the team crossed the finish line confidently. Fernando contributed a swift 36 runs off 16 balls, Fletcher added 27 runs off 19, and Zadran played a crucial role with an unbeaten 19 runs from 5 balls.

Team Abu Dhabi delivered an impressive performance against the Northern Warriors, securing an 8-wicket victory. The bowling unit of Team Abu Dhabi dominated the game, restricting the opposition to a mere 73/9 in 10 overs. Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad achieved a remarkable four-wicket haul for just 13 runs in 2 overs, while New Zealand pacer Adam Milne took 2 wickets. Finn Allen was the standout performer for the Warriors, scoring 35 runs off 20 balls.

In response, Team Abu Dhabi successfully chased the target in under 7 overs, with Kyle Mayers from the West Indies leading the charge, scoring 34 not out off only 14 balls.

If Team Abu Dhabi suffers a loss, the Delhi Bulls' defeat would suffice provided Team Abu Dhabi's loss margin is not greater than 15 runs. Conversely, if Northern Warriors lose, the Delhi Bulls must lose by a margin exceeding 112 runs for the Warriors to qualify. A win is essential for both scenarios to be relevant, contingent on the Delhi Bulls' match outcome.
