Arne Slot: Manchester United's True Potential Exceeds Current League Position

Liverpool, Jan 3 (NationPress) Liverpool's head coach Arne Slot has expressed confidence in their rivals, Manchester United, to overcome their recent challenges that have seen them drop to 14th place in the Premier League. He asserted that the Red Devils are significantly stronger than what their current ranking indicates.

Ruben Amorim, who previously enjoyed an unbeaten streak of 34 games with Sporting CP, is currently facing difficulties with five losses in his first eight league encounters, leaving his team in 14th position. The coach acknowledged that his club is embroiled in a relegation struggle after a 0-2 defeat to Newcastle United. "I believe it might take some time for Ruben Amorim to extract the best from the players, but they are undoubtedly far superior to what the league table reflects right now," Slot remarked during a press conference.

Even though Manchester United and Liverpool share a fierce rivalry, with their supporters often at odds, the Dutch head coach empathizes with United's manager, Ruben Amorim, and believes in his ability to enhance his team's performance. "Every manager feels for one another. We all understand the immense pressure this role entails. It is something we embrace. As I mentioned, he has excelled at Sporting, and I am confident he has a talented squad that will eventually flourish under his guidance," he continued.

Slot also provided insights into his team's injury situation leading up to their match against United on Sunday.

Joe Gomez, who sustained a hamstring injury during Liverpool's impressive 5-0 victory over West Ham United last weekend, is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. However, Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate are anticipated to return to full training on Friday.

"Joe is certainly not in a good position concerning his injury. He will be out for a few weeks, without a doubt. Conor and Ibou will join us for training today for the first time. I am eager to see how they perform. They have worked diligently to return to the squad, but the next challenge is always, 'How do you cope with team sessions?' They will train with us today, the two of them," Slot stated.
