Ashton Turner Extends Captains' Tenure with Perth Scorchers for Four More Years

Perth, Dec 25 (NationPress) Perth Scorchers' captain Ashton Turner has officially secured a four-year extension with the club, ensuring his leadership role until the end of the Big Bash League (BBL) 18 season.
The 31-year-old Turner boasts a remarkable joint-record of four BBL titles, having lifted the championship in BBL 4 and 6, and leading the Scorchers to incredible victories in BBL 11 and 12.
“I am truly grateful for the support and opportunities provided by the Scorchers throughout my career, and I eagerly anticipate contributing to the future of this club as well,” he expressed.
Only Current Scorchers Head Coach Adam Voges and Sydney Sixers veteran Moises Henriques (with two titles each) have matched Turner’s success as multiple championship-winning captains.
“At this point in my career, my main focus is on securing trophies, and I firmly believe that Perth is the optimal place to achieve that. Maintaining our core group of players has been vital to our previous success and is a key part of our strategy moving forward,” Turner stated.
“Additionally, I am excited to mentor our talented younger players as they develop their skills,” he added.
Turner has set the record for the most BBL appearances by a Scorcher, with 122 games played, and he was the first player from Perth to reach 100 BBL matches. The right-handed batsman also holds the title of the club’s all-time leading run-scorer with 2,121 runs at an impressive 143.89 strike rate, excelling in a challenging middle-order position.
“He is among the finest leaders in the league, and his strategic insight and composed nature consistently bring out the best in our team. He is dedicated to winning matches for the Scorchers, and his finishing abilities have proven invaluable time and again. We are eager to have Ashton as our captain for the upcoming seasons,” remarked head coach Adam Voges.
Turner will lead Perth for the 64th time when the Scorchers face off against the Brisbane Heat in the Boxing Day Bash at Optus Stadium on Thursday.
