New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) In a significant boost for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), fast bowler Avesh Khan has received medical clearance from the BCCI to participate in IPL 2025.

Avesh, who was dealing with a right knee injury, was cleared this week by the BCCI's medical staff and is set to rejoin the LSG squad, as reported by ESPNcricinfo on Tuesday.

After missing action since late January, Avesh's last appearance for India was during a T20I in South Africa last November. He also sat out Madhya Pradesh's concluding league match in the Ranji Trophy due to discomfort in his right knee, attributed to his domestic workload.

He underwent rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and reportedly completed one of his final fitness evaluations on Monday.

Although the precise date of his arrival in the LSG camp is not yet confirmed, he is anticipated to be available for their upcoming match - an away encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 27. LSG aims to recover after facing a defeat in their season opener against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Visakhapatnam on Monday.

LSG has been dealing with numerous injury challenges affecting their crucial Indian pace bowlers. Mayank Yadav, who is already recovering from a lumbar stress injury, has now suffered a toe injury too. Bengal speedster Akash Deep is still on the path to full fitness following a back injury during India’s Test tour of Australia. Additionally, left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan has been ruled out of IPL 2025 after failing to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear sustained last December. He has been substituted by Shardul Thakur in the squad.

Following the loss to Delhi Capitals, LSG assistant coach Lance Klusener addressed their lack of bowling depth due to the series of injuries.

"Currently, we lack sufficient reserves with the ball, so we will likely have to mix and match until our players return," Klusener stated during the post-match media briefing.

"However, that's just how it is. We must rise and perform with the bat in Hyderabad (the venue for their next game) as we observed in the first match. We are looking forward to it, and as I mentioned, it offers a chance for some youngsters to step up and gain their first experience. I was particularly pleased for Shardul Thakur - two wickets in his first over," he added.
