Bayern is set to face the renowned Italian club Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday (IST) for the first leg of their quarter-final clash, with the return match scheduled at the iconic San Siro next week.
"We are staying optimistic and believe that the players participating tomorrow will deliver a strong performance to secure a favorable outcome for us. We must remember that those playing have been integral to our journey thus far. I refuse to complain or modify my ambitions due to injuries. My focus is solely on what we can achieve when we perform at our peak," Kompany expressed during the press conference.
Aleksandar Pavlovic, Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito, and star midfielder Jamal Musiala are all likely to miss the remainder of the season.
In significant news from the Munich camp, club icon Thomas Muller announced he will depart from the club after the season's conclusion. Muller holds the record for most appearances for Bayern, with 743 competitive matches in which he has netted 247 goals and provided 273 assists. He scored 45 goals in 131 matches for the German national team from 2010 to 2024, clinching the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He also achieved the Golden Boot as the joint top-scorer at his debut World Cup in 2010 and participated in the 2018 and 2022 tournaments, as well as the European Championships in 2012, 2016, 2021, and 2024.
Konrad Laimer, who accompanied the head coach during the media session, highlighted the influence Muller can have in the game, asserting that he is irreplaceable.
"He possesses the ability to create magic, but we have numerous players capable of winning matches. I trust each member of our squad to achieve that. I sincerely hope he has a moment of brilliance tomorrow or in the second leg to assist us," Laimer stated.
"You cannot substitute Thomas Müller. He is one of a kind. I aim to continue winning with him during these final weeks, extracting as much knowledge as possible. There is much to learn from his calm demeanor before matches. The exciting aspect of football is that we face off twice,” Laimer added.
