Guwahati, April 12 (NationPress) The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has conveyed its profound appreciation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for designating three matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, which were effectively hosted at the Barsapara Stadium. This development is seen as a significant enhancement for cricket within the state.

ACA's president, Taranga Gogoi, along with secretary Sanatan Das, expressed their gratitude to the BCCI for the chance to host the matches, which were part of the Rajasthan Royals' home games.

The ACA stated on X, “On behalf of the Assam Cricket Association, we are genuinely thankful to the BCCI for bringing three IPL matches to Guwahati. This opportunity has played a crucial role in advancing cricket in our region.”

Furthermore, the association acknowledged Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his unwavering support, despite his preoccupations with election duties, which facilitated the successful execution of the matches.

The ACA also expressed its gratitude towards BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia for his ongoing encouragement and assistance in fostering cricket's development in Assam.

In addition, the ACA commended Guwahati Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta for his efforts in ensuring seamless arrangements during the matches, while also recognizing the collaborative support from various governmental departments, such as Assam Police, Health Services, GMC, GMDA, APDCL, PHE, Fire & Emergency Services, and PWD.

Special recognition was given to the curators and groundsmen, hailed as the 'true unsung heroes' for their tireless work in maintaining the playing surface to the required standards amidst numerous challenges.

The association expressed, “We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated curators and groundsmen, whose unwavering commitment made them the true unsung heroes in preparing the venue to meet match standards.”

Moreover, the ACA extended its thanks to cricket enthusiasts from across the nation and beyond for their tremendous support, which enriched the atmosphere during the matches.

“We are also grateful to the fervent fans from across the country and beyond for their overwhelming presence and support. This collective effort transformed the matches into a truly unforgettable celebration of cricket in Assam,” the statement concluded.

The Rajasthan Royals played three matches at Barsapara Stadium and emerged victorious in all. They will now relocate to Jaipur, where their home games will continue at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
