Harare, July 25 (NationPress) New Zealand's all-rounder Michael Bracewell has been appointed as the substitute for the injured Glenn Phillips for the opening Test against Zimbabwe.
Phillips sustained his injury during the Major League Cricket (MLC) final. Upon his arrival in Zimbabwe, a thorough assessment revealed that he would need several weeks for rehabilitation.
Bracewell, who was initially overlooked for the squad due to his commitments with The Hundred coinciding with the two-Test series in Bulawayo, is set to make his return to the BlackCaps red-ball team for the first time since 2023.
The 34-year-old cricketer last participated in a Test match during Sri Lanka's tour of New Zealand in 2023. After the first Test, he will depart Zimbabwe to join the Southern Brave for their upcoming game.
