London, June 3 (NationPress) Brentford has officially secured the services of goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool on a permanent transfer. The international from Republic of Ireland has signed a five-year deal, which includes an option to extend for an additional year.

The London club made the announcement shortly after Bayer Leverkusen confirmed the acquisition of former Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken.

Kelleher, who has won the Premier League twice, leaves Arne Slot’s squad after making 67 appearances across various competitions, achieving an impressive 24 clean sheets. He joined Liverpool in the summer of 2015 from Ringmahon Rangers, rising through the youth system to become a first-team player.

At 26 years old, Kelleher experienced his first taste of victory in 2019 when he was on the bench for Liverpool's 2-0 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.

Another trophy followed in August with the UEFA Super Cup, and he made his competitive debut in a 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Milton Keynes Dons a month later.

He played twice more in the same competition and also participated in the FA Cup during the 2019/20 season, which earned him his first Premier League winners’ medal.

Kelleher made his debut in the Champions League in December 2020 during a 1-0 victory over Ajax and marked his league debut five days later with another clean sheet in a 4-0 win against Wolves.

In doing so, he became the youngest goalkeeper for Liverpool to keep a clean sheet in his Premier League debut.

Additionally, Kelleher holds the club record for winning four penalty shoot-outs, surpassing any other keeper in Liverpool's history. The most notable of these was in 2022, when he scored the winning penalty in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.

Two years later, Kelleher and Liverpool, who also celebrated FA Cup success in 2022, once again defeated the Blues to claim the Carabao Cup at Wembley with a 1-0 victory after extra time.
