New Delhi, Sep 22 (NationPress) Chris Lynn, the powerful Australian opener, has inked a deal ensuring his full participation with the Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL), including the finals.
At 35 years old, Lynn is set for his fourth consecutive season with the Strikers after an outstanding performance in the T20 Blast in England, where he scored an impressive unbeaten 108 runs off just 51 balls, hitting 11 sixes to lead Hampshire to a semi-final win against Northamptonshire.
"I’m eagerly anticipating my return to Adelaide Oval and contributing to the team’s journey through the finals this year. Our squad is packed with talent, and I’m excited to see our performance when we hit the field on December 17," Lynn expressed in a statement on Monday.
However, Lynn has yet to complete a full season with the Strikers. His initial two engagements were on short-term contracts that permitted him to leave early for the ILT20 in the UAE, while a hamstring injury last summer restricted him to only seven matches and forced him to miss the last two games of the club.
With the ILT20 now rescheduled to early December, more overseas players are anticipated to be available for the later rounds of the BBL, which aligns with Lynn’s desire for a complete and uninterrupted season with the Strikers.
“We are excited to welcome Chris back to the Strikers as we aim for a successful finals run. His batting prowess is well-known, but his experience and leadership are just as crucial for our developing players in the squad. I believe I represent all Strikers fans in welcoming him back to Adelaide Oval - we are eager to see his contributions in BBL|15," stated head coach Tim Paine.
The Strikers have also recently signed Jason Sangha and Mackenzie Harvey to their roster, following Jake Weatherald's transfer to the Hobart Hurricanes and Brendan Doggett's move to the Melbourne Renegades.
Additionally, they will benefit from the services of new overseas signing, English all-rounder Jamie Overton, who is set to join the BBL season after announcing an indefinite hiatus from red-ball cricket, ruling him out of England’s Ashes plans.
