New Delhi, June 26 (NationPress) Australian batter Chris Lynn is set to join the Hampshire Hawks for the final six matches of the Vitality Blast group stage.
The 35-year-old has signed with the Hawks following the international call-ups of South African players Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Dewald Brevis, who will compete in a two-test series against Zimbabwe starting June 28.
"Returning to Hampshire is fantastic, especially as a professional; I enjoyed my time playing club cricket in the county some time ago. The Hawks have a storied history, and I hope to contribute significantly in the latter part of the Blast to help the team reach Finals Day," Lynn expressed in a statement from the franchise.
The Hampshire Hawks will resume their Vitality Blast campaign on July 5 against the Sussex Sharks at the 1st Central County Ground, Hove. Lynn will also participate in a double-header the following day at the Utilita Bowl as the Hawks take on Somerset.
"We are thrilled to have Chris on board for the latter stages of the Blast. With crucial matches upcoming, his experience and explosive batting will be immensely beneficial to us," commented Giles White, Hampshire’s Director of Cricket.
Lynn previously played in the Blast for the Northamptonshire Steelbacks from 2022-23, amassing 880 runs with an average of 44 and a strike rate just shy of 150. He has participated in 292 T20 matches, racking up over 8,000 runs, including five centuries—three of which were achieved in the Blast—and 54 fifties.
In Australia’s Big Bash League, Lynn has played for both Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers, forming a formidable opening partnership with current England Men’s Head Coach Brendon McCullum from 2016-19, where they were known as the 'Bash Bros.'
In his recent three seasons with the Adelaide Strikers, Lynn has scored 950 runs at an impressive strike rate of 153, including seven half-centuries.
