Manchester, June 21 (NationPress) Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer feels he is in excellent physical condition and is eager to face the challenges that lie ahead in the 2025/26 season.
The 21-year-old had a remarkable breakthrough season at Manchester United, having made his senior debut during the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley.
In total, he contributed with 13 appearances across all competitions, although his last match was in mid-March during the win at Leicester City, despite also participating in the post-season tour of Asia.
This absence was due to injury, but Collyer believes he has gained valuable insights from his time off the pitch and is ready to apply this knowledge during what promises to be an intense pre-season training regimen under head coach Ruben Amorim.
"I think, nowadays, especially with the double gameweeks we experienced, sometimes even having three matches in just over a week, it’s essential to do the right things off the pitch to ensure that when you’re on it, you can give 100 percent."
"There’s nothing like the Premier League. The physical demands it places on your body, especially transitioning from the Under-21s, is a significant leap. However, I believe I’ve adapted well, which is crucial since I had a few injuries this year. It’s a chance for me to understand my body better—what I can do and what I need to avoid. I can identify what works for me."
"Of course, nobody wishes to be injured, but there are positives to be found. You can analyze the situation, understand how it occurred, and learn how to prevent it in the future. Now, as I head into next season, I know exactly what I need to do," Collyer shared with United's media team.
Collyer reports feeling strong and is determined to secure his spot in Amorim's plans for the upcoming season, with the pre-season opener against Leeds United in Stockholm less than a month away.
"It's more of a mental challenge, I’d say," he commented on his time off the field. "Especially at the beginning, when you can’t do much and might not even be on the pitch. However, it’s about overcoming those challenges and demonstrating resilience because, ultimately, you need to show that strength on the field as well.
"If you can’t display it in the physio room, you have no chance on the pitch, do you?"
