CRPF and ITBP Personnel to Join Sports Minister Dr. Mandaviya in Fit India Sunday on Cycle Initiative

New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) After the tremendous success of the Fit India Cycling Drive launch on December 17, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Manuskh Mandaviya, announced the commencement of Fit India Sunday on Cycle, set to take place on December 22. This Sunday’s initiative aims to gather individuals from all walks of life across India, encouraging a culture of cycling as both a fitness activity and a sustainable transportation method, while also fostering a sense of community.
The launch event for the Fit India Cycling Drive drew over 50,000 participants across more than 1000 locations nationwide—from Kargil to Alleppey.
The inaugural Fit India Sunday on Cycle will feature personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) joining Dr. Mandaviya in Delhi on December 22. The uniformed officers will cycle from the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium (MDCNS) through Kartavya Path, flagging off at 8 am, to motivate more Indians to participate in this nationwide movement, which will occur every Sunday at numerous locations.
The event will also include athletes, fitness enthusiasts, cycling club members from the Delhi-NCR region, and volunteers from My Bharat (formerly NYKS), alongside the general public. This initiative aims to inspire citizens throughout the country to adopt cycling not only as a method of transport but also as a form of exercise, taking place in over 500 locations simultaneously, as per the announcement from the Sports Authority of India.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is collaborating closely with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), MY Bharat, and various regional centers including National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), Khelo India Centres (KICs), and local administrations to facilitate these events.
The Fit India movement, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, serves as a foundational program outlining the roadmap for India’s emergence as a sports superpower. The movement emphasizes health, sports, and the promotion of indigenous games within the country.
