Cummins, Bumrah, and Paterson Contend for Men's Player of December

Dubai, Jan 7 (NationPress) The Australian skipper Pat Cummins, Indian fast bowling sensation Jasprit Bumrah, and South Africa’s standout pacer Dane Paterson have been selected as nominees for the prestigious ICC Men's Player of December 2024.
Cummins showcased exceptional performance throughout the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, excelling with both bat and ball. His leadership propelled Australia to a 3-1 series victory over India, securing a place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 Final.
The Australian paceman achieved an impressive tally of 17 wickets in three Tests at a remarkable average of 17.64. His peak performance was recorded in Adelaide, where he delivered an outstanding 5/57 to clinch a 10-wicket victory for Australia. Not only did Cummins excel with the ball, but he also played crucial innings, scoring 49 and 41 in Melbourne, which were critical in Australia’s triumph.
His all-round performance and leadership were pivotal in securing the series and booking Australia’s place in the WTC Final at Lord’s in June 2025.
On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah reaffirmed his status as one of the globe's elite fast bowlers. Even as India fell short in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah's incredible performance earned him 32 wickets in three Tests at a stellar average of 14.22.
His brilliance was particularly evident in Brisbane and Melbourne, where he secured nine wickets in each Test. Bumrah’s relentless spells kept India in contention and culminated in him being awarded the Player of the Series. Furthermore, he achieved the highest-ever ICC Test Player Rankings points for an Indian bowler.
Meanwhile, Dane Paterson played a crucial role in leading his team to the WTC25 Final with outstanding performances in the Test series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The South African pacer was in exceptional form, claiming 13 wickets across two Tests at an average of 16.92.
Paterson's match-winning spells included impressive figures of 5/71 against Sri Lanka and 5/61 against Pakistan, solidifying South Africa’s position in the final stages of the WTC cycle. His knack for timely strikes ensured that the Proteas finished at the top of the WTC standings, qualifying for a one-off Final against Australia.
