Ranchi, April 2 (NationPress) In the ongoing 16th Hockey India Sub-junior Women National Championship 2026, Goans Hockey clinched a victory in Division 'C', while Hockey Bengal, Hockey Chandigarh, and Hockey Uttarakhand each celebrated wins in their Division 'B' matches on the second day of the event held in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
The action commenced with a Pool A, Division 'C' encounter, where Goans Hockey triumphed over Telangana Hockey with a score of 6-3 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda International Astro-turf Stadium. Goans captain Dellina Mendes made a notable impact by scoring two goals (40', 41'), alongside Bertila Kerketta, who also found the net twice (48', 52'). For Telangana Hockey, Seema Tirkey (3') and Vidya Kumari (16') contributed to the scoreboard, while Anandi Mahanand (30', 36') and Navyashri Akula (15') added further goals for Telangana.
In the Division ‘B’, Pool A match, Hockey Bengal secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu Hockey, with captain Puja Kumari Shaw netting the decisive goal in the second quarter at the 21-minute mark.
Later, Hockey Chandigarh showcased their dominance in a Division ‘B’, Pool B match, achieving an impressive 12-1 victory over Hockey Gujarat. The goal tally for Chandigarh featured captain Kafi (38', 46', 55', 60'), Annu (9', 30'), Aanchal (12', 14'), Nancy Kashyap (13', 18'), Bhawana (10'), and Yasmin Sharma (20'). Niyati Parmar, the captain of Hockey Gujarat, scored the lone goal in the 23rd minute.
Lastly, Hockey Uttarakhand emerged victorious against Hockey Karnataka with a score of 6-1 in their Pool B, Division 'B' match.
