Delhi Capitals Cricket Academy has opened a new training centre in Seattle, United States, marking the franchise's latest step in building a global player development network. The centre, established in partnership with Seattle Thunderbolts Academy, will operate under Delhi Capitals' coaching curriculum and technical framework, covering structured training, performance monitoring, and long-term player development.

The Partnership and What It Covers

Seattle Thunderbolts Academy, founded in 2021, has grown from a Minor League Cricket outfit into a recognised cricket organisation in the Pacific Northwest. The academy trains more than 200 young cricketers across youth, adult, and women's cricket, and oversees six cricket grounds, including turf wickets. The team also claimed the Minor League Cricket Championship in 2022.

The collaboration is designed to give local players access to Delhi Capitals' professional standards — including training camps, skill evaluation, and exposure opportunities — while connecting them to the franchise's wider global academy ecosystem.

Delhi Capitals CEO Sunil Gupta said, 'The expansion of our academy network in the United States is a key step in building a strong and sustainable global development ecosystem. Our focus remains on creating clear pathways, sharing best practices, and supporting young cricketers as they aim to compete at the highest level.'

Phani Chitneni, Co-Owner of Seattle Thunderbolts Academy, described the tie-up as 'a meaningful step in expanding the Delhi Capitals Academy ecosystem beyond India and into one of the fastest growing cricket markets in the world,' adding that the partnership 'creates a direct link between local cricket development in the United States and the wider cricket ecosystem.'

Vijay Beniwal, Co-Owner of Seattle Thunderbolts Academy, noted that 'a player starting at the grassroots level in Seattle can now progress through academy programs, competitive cricket, and opportunities that connect to the wider professional cricket ecosystem.'

Delhi Capitals' Global Academy Network

The Seattle centre brings the total count of Delhi Capitals' international academies to three. The global network now includes the Delhi Capitals Sajid Mahmood Cricket Academy in London, the Ontario Cricket Academy in Mississauga, and the newly launched Thunderbolts Cricket Academy in Seattle.

Within India, the franchise maintains centres at Conscient Sports in the NCR region, American EduGlobal in Ghaziabad, and The Sports School in Bengaluru.

Cricket in the United States has grown rapidly, boosted by the country's co-hosting of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and a rising South Asian diaspora. The Minor League Cricket structure has provided a competitive ladder, but structured academy infrastructure has remained limited.
