Diksha, who holds the tenth position on the Ladies European Tour, will also compete in the ISPA Handa Women’s Scottish Open, which is co-sanctioned with the LPGA. Unfortunately, she did not qualify for the Evian Championship, another Major event. The Scottish Open is scheduled for July 17-20, followed by the Women’s Open from July 24-27 at Porthcawl.
Other Indian golfers participating in the Irish Open this week include Avani Prashanth, Tvesa Malik, and Hitaashee Bakshi.
Diksha views the Irish Open as a vital step in her preparation for the Scottish Open and the Women’s Open. She expressed, “I feel content and confident in my game and am eagerly looking forward to the AIG Women's Open this year. Last year was challenging due to various interruptions. In 2023, I finished tied for 21st. This time, I aim to improve without focusing on specific rankings, concentrating instead on my preparation and performance.”
With her father, Col Naren Dagar, caddying for her, she stated, “I am enhancing my game’s strength and power. Once I feel satisfied with these aspects, I will expect to contend for Majors. Winning a Major or an Olympic medal would be immensely rewarding in my career.”
Diksha also highlighted the importance of the Women’s Indian Open in October, stating, “It’s a significant event for us, and I aspire to win it,” after finishing third in 2023.
This year, Diksha has achieved five Top-10 finishes, including a playoff runner-up at the Lalla Meryem Cup, which kicked off the season. She also secured T-8 at the Joburg Ladies, T-9 at the Women’s South African Open, T-9 at the Dutch Ladies, and T-8 at the German Masters.
