Dutch Grand Prix to Conclude in 2026 Following Contract Extension

London, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix will remain a part of the racing calendar until 2026 due to a one-year contract extension revealed by Formula 1 and the event promoter. Nevertheless, the promoter has determined that 2026 will be the concluding year for the race at Circuit Zandvoort.
The Dutch Grand Prix will end on a high note, following four successful editions, with two thrilling races remaining.
In 2025, the event is scheduled to occur from August 29 to 31. The date for the final event in 2026, which will feature a Sprint for the first time at the Dutch Grand Prix, will be announced next year.
Formula 1 stated in a release, "The Dutch Grand Prix promoter and Formula 1 have confirmed a one-year contract extension that will keep Circuit Zandvoort on the calendar through the 2026 season. After extensive consideration, the promoter has opted not to continue post-2026."
The return of the Dutch Grand Prix in 2021 coincided with the remarkable success of local hero Max Verstappen, who has been awarded the world champion title in each of the four years the event has been held thus far. Since then, the race has evolved into a highlight of the racing season, drawing thousands of enthusiastic fans to its scenic coastal location. Renowned for its thrilling atmosphere and the iconic banked corners of Circuit Zandvoort, the race quickly became a favorite among spectators.
Max Verstappen’s dominance during this era has only heightened the appeal of the Dutch Grand Prix. With three victories on home turf and multiple world championships during this time, Verstappen has become synonymous with the event, solidifying its status as a must-attend spectacle.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, expressed, "I am extremely thankful for the efforts put forth by the Dutch Grand Prix team in recent years. They have elevated the standards for European Grands Prix in terms of event quality and entertainment, fostered the development of emerging talent by hosting F2, F3, and our F1 ACADEMY series, and pioneered sustainable practices inspiring our global events as we aim for Net Zero by 2030."
“All stakeholders collaborated positively to reach a solution for extending the race, with various options, including alternating or annual events, considered. We respect the promoter’s decision to conclude this remarkable chapter in 2026. My gratitude goes out to the entire team at the Dutch Grand Prix and the Municipality of Zandvoort, who have been outstanding partners to Formula 1," he added.
Robert van Overdijk, Director of the Dutch Grand Prix, voiced his pride in the event's achievements and elaborated on the choice to conclude in 2026.
"While today’s announcement indicates the end of an extraordinary era, we are confident that fans will have much to anticipate at the Dutch Grand Prix in 2025 and 2026, including the Sprint in 2026."
“As a privately owned business, we must weigh the opportunities of continuing to host the event against other risks and responsibilities. We have chosen to finish on a high note with two more spectacular Dutch Grands Prix in 2025 and 2026," he concluded.
