Will the Monaco Grand Prix be part of the Formula 1 calendar until 2035?

New Delhi, Sep 5 (NationPress) Formula 1 has made an exciting announcement that will ensure the Monaco Grand Prix remains a staple of the racing calendar until 2035.

This agreement extends the previous contract with the Automobile Club of Monaco, which was initially set to last until 2031.

Since its debut in F1’s first season back in 1950, the Monte Carlo race has been regarded as the crown jewel of the World Championship. The tight 3.3-kilometre street circuit challenges drivers with its demanding nature, and the event's allure in the heart of the Mediterranean makes it one of the most prestigious sporting events globally.

“The streets of Monaco have been resonating with the sounds of Formula 1 since the sport's early days, so I’m thrilled to announce this extension through 2035,” expressed F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali. “This iconic race is cherished by both drivers and fans alike, offering a unique atmosphere thanks to its location in the world’s most glamorous principality.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Royal Serene Highness, Prince Albert II of Monaco, Michel Boeri, President of the Automobile Club of Monaco, and everyone involved in securing the long-term future of this historic partnership.”

His Serene Highness, Prince Albert II, lauded the renewal as a continuation of Monaco’s rich sporting heritage. “The renewal of the Monaco Grand Prix until 2035 aligns with a sporting and historical tradition to which the Principality is deeply committed,” he stated.

“I wholeheartedly welcome this renewed commitment, which reflects our collective achievements and the exceptional collaboration with Formula 1, showcasing Monaco’s unique position in the world of motorsport.”

Michel Boeri also expressed his appreciation for the new deal, emphasizing its significance. “My sincere thanks go to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco for his steadfast support, and to Stefano Domenicali for his ongoing trust,” Boeri noted.

“The Automobile Club de Monaco is thrilled about this four-year extension, which highlights the strong and lasting relationship between Formula 1 and the Principality. This agreement reaffirms our commitment to delivering an exceptional, unparalleled, and globally renowned race weekend for the passionate fans who travel from around the world to attend the Monaco Grand Prix, first held in 1929.

“I would also like to acknowledge the remarkable efforts of the F1 community and all the volunteers, as well as the Monegasque institutions, whose contributions are vital to the success of this extraordinary event.”

The Monaco Grand Prix continues to create historic moments. In 2024, Charles Leclerc made history as the first Monegasque driver to win his home race, while in 2025, Lando Norris secured his first Monaco victory.

Champions like Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, and Max Verstappen have all triumphed here, joining legends such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda, Sir Jackie Stewart, and Graham Hill.
