Formula 1 Secures Extended Partnership with Legendary Belgian Grand Prix

Stavelot (Belgium), Jan 8 (NationPress) Formula 1 has finalized a multi-year agreement with the Belgian Grand Prix, guaranteeing that the sport will race at the renowned Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps during four of the next six years.
This extension includes Grands Prix for the 2026, 2027, 2029, and 2031 seasons, and comes after substantial investments at the circuit, which feature the addition of two new grandstands—boosting capacity by 10,000—along with improvements to off-track entertainment and the fan experience.
"The Belgian Grand Prix has been part of our inaugural Championship since 1950, and as we celebrate our 75th anniversary, it is fitting to announce this significant extension.
"Spa-Francorchamps is rightly regarded as one of the top racetracks globally by both drivers and fans, having hosted numerous thrilling moments throughout its history in Formula 1. Recent renovations have greatly enhanced the facility and overall fan experience. I commend the promoter and the Government of Wallonia for their unwavering support of Formula 1 in Belgium," said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.
The Wallonian circuit is well-respected by fans and drivers for its combination of long straights and demanding high-speed corners, featuring one of the most iconic sections in motorsport history as drivers accelerate through Eau Rouge and Raidillon, proceeding onto the Kemmel straight.
This year, the Belgian Grand Prix attracted 380,000 spectators over the race weekend, which featured three days of thrilling activities, culminating in Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton claiming his second victory of the season and his fifth at Spa.
Established in 1921, Spa-Francorchamps was one of only seven circuits to participate in Formula 1’s inaugural championship in 1950 and has since held 57 Grands Prix.
Measuring 7.004km, it stands as the longest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar and has witnessed victories by some of the sport’s most legendary drivers, including Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda, and Sebastian Vettel. Current drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Max Verstappen have also triumphed at this circuit.
