Exciting Matches on the Horizon: PM Modi Commends 'Close Friend' Anthony Albanese for Welcoming Team India

New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday praised his Australian counterpart and 'close friend' Anthony Albanese for hosting the Indian and PM's XI teams at the Federal Parliament House in Canberra before the tour match. PM Modi also expressed his support for the Men in Blue during the ongoing series in Australia, noting that '1.4 billion Indians are fervently cheering' for them.

India has secured a victory in the opening Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, taking an early 1-0 lead in the series. The Rohit Sharma-led team is scheduled to participate in a two-day pink ball tour match against PM's XI at Manuka Oval, starting on Saturday.

In response to the Australian Prime Minister's post, PM Modi remarked, 'I am pleased to see my good friend Prime Minister @AlboMP along with the Indian and PM’s XI teams. Team India has made a fantastic start in the series, and 1.4 billion Indians are strongly supporting the Men in Blue. I eagerly anticipate the thrilling matches ahead.'

Earlier that day, the Australian PM shared on X, 'A significant challenge awaits the PM’s XI at Manuka Oval this week against an incredible Indian side. However, as I told PM @narendramodi, I’m rooting for the Aussies to succeed.'

The Indian team arrived in Canberra from Perth on Thursday morning in preparation for the tour match in the Australian capital.

India achieved a remarkable 295-run victory over Australia in the first Test in Perth. In the absence of regular captain Rohit, who is on paternity leave, Jasprit Bumrah led the Indian side to dismiss Australia for 238 in the final session of day four while chasing a target of 534 runs. This victory over the defending champions Australia marks India's largest away victory margin in terms of runs, surpassing their previous record of a 222-run victory in Melbourne in 1977.

The second Test, which is a pink ball match, between India and Australia is set to take place in Adelaide starting December 6.
