New Delhi, July 9 (NationPress) New Zealand opener Finn Allen has been officially ruled out of the T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe, which is set to begin on July 14, due to a foot injury sustained while competing for the San Francisco Unicorns in the Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament.
According to a statement from New Zealand Cricket (NZC), Allen's recovery timeline will be assessed once he returns to New Zealand for further specialist consultations. A replacement player will be announced soon.
The 26-year-old Allen had an impressive run, being the second-highest run-scorer for the Unicorns with a total of 333 runs in nine matches, which included a remarkable 151 in his debut game against Washington Freedom in Oakland.
Meanwhile, the New Zealand team is expected to arrive in Harare on Thursday before their first match against South Africa on July 16, following the opening match between the Proteas and hosts Zimbabwe on July 14.
