Jalandhar, Aug 16 (NationPress) Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi triumphed in their respective Division ‘B’ encounters, while Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab emerged victorious in Division ‘A’ on the fifth day of the 15th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship. A total of three matches in Division 'B' and four in Division 'A' were contested at the Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium this Saturday.

The day's first Division ‘B’ clash saw Hockey Himachal suffer a defeat against Hockey Chandigarh with a score of 3-5. Notably, Gurjeet Singh netted four of the five goals for Hockey Chandigarh (35’, 48’, 51’, 56’), while Sharandeep Singh added another (23’). For Hockey Himachal, Anubhav Rangra (52’), Anuj (6’), and Tanish Kumar (39’) each contributed one goal.

The following match was a nail-biter, with Jammu & Kashmir edging out Hockey Arunachal 5-4 in a dramatic finish. Captain Rajveer Singh was the star, scoring all five goals for Jammu & Kashmir (13’, 23’, 46’, 53’, 60’). Hockey Arunachal’s scorers included Shatish Kumar Thakur (21’), Vivek Yadav (9’), Abhi Rajbhar (42’), and captain Amarjeet Singh (38’).

In the final Division 'B' match, Delhi secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Hockey Uttarakhand, with Bhanu (7’, 38’) scoring twice and Yuvraj Singh (50’) adding another.

Meanwhile, the Division ‘A’ matches commenced on Day 5, starting with Hockey Karnataka facing Hockey Andhra Pradesh.

In a commanding performance, Hockey Karnataka crushed Hockey Andhra Pradesh 10-1. Harpal (12’, 35’) and Tanish Ramesh Hulakund (17’, 56’) each scored two goals, while captain Dhruva BS (25’), Achaiah MM (24’), Kushal Bopaiah CB (51’), Raju Manoj Gayakwad (5’), Nitesh Sharma (10’), and Poojith K.R (58’) contributed one goal each. The sole goal for Hockey Andhra Pradesh came from Patan Asad Musfin Khan (29’).

In the next Division ‘A’ match, Hockey Haryana achieved a 3-0 win over Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey, with goals coming from Nitin (19’), Chirag (58’), and Sunil (59’).

Uttar Pradesh Hockey then triumphed over Hockey Maharashtra with a score of 9-2. Ujjwal Pal (17’, 26’) and Mithalesh Yadav (8’, 57’) each scored twice, while Satyam Pandey (56’), Fahad Khan (25’), Akash Pal (53’), Manoj Yadav (60’), and Venvanshi Triloki (6’) rounded out the scoring. Hockey Maharashtra’s goals came from captain Arjun Santosh Hargude (30’) and Kartik Ramesh Patare (48’).

The final match of the day featured Hockey Punjab against the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu. In a thrilling contest, Punjab snatched victory with three goals in quick succession, finalizing the score at 8-4. Amandeep (21’, 29’), Lovenoor Singh (43’, 52’), Charanjeet Singh (5’), Jobanpreet Singh (53’, 54’), and captain Gursewak Singh (44’) were the goal scorers for Hockey Punjab, while Akash K (12’) and Manimaran V (21, 27, 40) registered goals for Tamil Nadu.
