Chennai, Aug 6 (NationPress) In an exhilarating showdown, Hockey Punjab and Hockey Jharkhand both claimed victories on Wednesday, securing their spots in the final of the 15th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship 2025, taking place at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium.
Hockey Punjab triumphed over Uttar Pradesh Hockey with a close score of 4-3, while Hockey Jharkhand outperformed Hockey Madhya Pradesh with a score of 3-1 in the second semifinal.
Now, Hockey Punjab is set to clash with Hockey Jharkhand in the final, while Uttar Pradesh Hockey will compete against Hockey Madhya Pradesh for third place on Thursday.
In the first semifinal, Hockey Punjab edged past Uttar Pradesh Hockey with a score of 4-3. Sukhdev Singh scored two late goals (51’, 52’), adding to the first-half goals from Mandeep Singh (19’) and Varinder Singh (28’). For Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Harsh Pratap Singh (9’), Ali Shahrukh (21’), and captain Ketan Kushwaha (28’) were the scorers.
In the other semifinal, Hockey Jharkhand secured a 3-1 victory over Hockey Madhya Pradesh. After Love (21’) initially put Madhya Pradesh ahead, Jharkhand rallied back with goals from Soreng Sumray (29’), Ashish Tani Purti (44’), and Jaysan Kandulna (56’) to advance to the finals.
