Howe Urges Newcastle to Match Liverpool's Intensity Against Brentford

New Delhi, Dec 6 (NationPress) Despite the draw against Liverpool on Thursday, Newcastle United has faced challenges in gaining momentum this season, currently placing them at 12th position in the league standings. The Toons are eager to secure their first league victory since November 10.
As they prepare for their away match against Brentford, head coach Eddie Howe has urged his team to replicate the intensity they exhibited against Liverpool.
"After any game, there's a comedown. However, I believe it will be a steep one post the Liverpool match. Our challenge this weekend is to quickly find a way to reach the same levels of intensity and mental resilience that we showcased on Wednesday," Howe stated during the pre-game conference.
In a thrilling encounter against the Premier League leaders, Fabian Schar scored a crucial 90th-minute goal, securing a 3-3 draw for Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Alexander Isak opened the scoring with a powerful shot, marking his fifth league goal of the 2024/25 season, allowing the Magpies to take a well-deserved lead at St. James' Park. However, Curtis Jones' goal shortly after halftime brought the hosts level.
Despite Anthony Gordon's composed finish restoring Newcastle's lead after the hour mark, Mohamed Salah's brace put Liverpool ahead in the closing stages. Nonetheless, Schar's late effort salvaged a valuable point for Eddie Howe's team.
Howe also commended the Swiss defender for his contributions to the team’s attack.
"Fabian possesses those midfield qualities at centre-back; he has a creative vision that is crucial in our build-up play. He utilized the ball effectively against Liverpool. His goal was the icing on the cake, scoring from that angle—what a great goal! His technical ability to adapt is impressive, and he has netted some important goals for us," he added.
