New Delhi, July 16 (NationPress) As India gears up for their three-match ODI series versus England at Southampton, experienced off-spin bowling all-rounder Sneh Rana expressed that the morale within the team is elevated and that their preparations have been exceptionally robust.
India enters the ODI series following their historic T20I series win of 3-2 in England. The last ODI series they played in England resulted in a clean sweep of 3-0 in September 2022. “As we approach the ODI series, confidence is high and our preparations are going exceedingly well. We aim for a clean sweep in this ODI series,” she stated.
“However, England is also in fine form with strong players. It promises to be a fierce contest. We are truly looking forward to the challenge,” Sneh noted in a video shared on BCCI’s social media platforms on Wednesday.
The T20I series marked Sneh's return to the T20I squad, and while she didn't claim any wickets, she credited the Women’s Premier League (WPL) for her comeback into the national setup. Initially unsold in the WPL 2025 auctions, she was later acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as a replacement for the injured Shreyanka Patil.
“I had faith in my abilities, and that’s why I’m here. My Test debut took place in England in 2021. After some time away from the T20 and ODI teams, I have made a comeback and am back in England. During my absence, I focused on domestic matches and worked on my variations. I have emphasized improving my batting and hard-hitting skills. The WPL has significantly contributed to my T20 resurgence,” she elaborated.
She recounted her recall for the tri-series in Sri Lanka, where she was awarded the Player of the Series with a remarkable 15 wickets. “In my room, beside my bed, there’s my almirah, and right in front of it, an Indian flag hangs with the word ‘believe’ inscribed underneath. Every morning, I see it and remind myself to believe in my capabilities,” Sneh shared.
“When I was selected for the tri-series in Sri Lanka, I felt incredibly fortunate for that opportunity. My mindset is that wherever my team needs me, I will deliver. I often write and manifest my goals, which I did during my time in Sri Lanka as well. On the days I took four and five wickets, I had written and manifested those achievements,” she recounted.
Sneh concluded by acknowledging the immense support from her family and friends, which has been pivotal in her return to the Indian team. “My family and friends have been crucial in my journey. My biggest supporter is my mom, who always encourages me to work diligently and have faith in myself. Comebacks often surpass setbacks,” she said.
