New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) In the season-opening ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun stage held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, two Indian shooters reached the finals, but Varun Tomar and Ravinder Singh ultimately missed out on podium finishes in the men's 10m air pistol event. As Day One of the event concluded at the Tiro Federal Argentino de Buenos Aires shooting range on Thursday, both shooters qualified in the seventh and eighth positions, achieving identical scores of 580, with Ravinder slightly ahead due to more shots in the inner-10 ring.
Despite being in contention for medals during the early stages of the eight-man, 24-shot final, both competitors faced challenges and exited after their 16th and 18th shots, respectively. The third Indian competitor, Saurabh Chaudhary, finished 16th in qualification with a score of 577.
The skeet events also commenced on this day, featuring the first two rounds of qualifying, each consisting of 25 targets. In the women's skeet, India's Raiza Dhillon achieved a flawless start with a perfect score of 25/25, placing her at the top of the leaderboard.
