IOA Treasurer Expresses Alarm Over Incomplete Payment for 38th National Games

New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) The Treasurer of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Sahdev Yadav, has expressed alarm regarding the Games Allotment Fee for the upcoming 38th National Games, which is scheduled to take place in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14. He noted that the host state has not yet fulfilled its commitment to pay the agreed sum of Rs 5 crore, as determined during the AGM in 2023.

In a letter referenced by IOA chief PT Usha, Yadav mentioned that upon investigating the status of the Games Allotment Fee, it was revealed that only Rs. 2.5 crores has been received from the state.

"Upon checking the receipt of the Games Allotment Fee from Uttarakhand for hosting the 38th National Games, I discovered that the total amount received is only Rs. 2.5 crores. It was agreed in the IOA AGM on March 11, 2023 that the total amount of Rs. 5 crore would be collected as the Games Allotment Fee," the letter stated.

"For the 36th National Games, the Government of Gujarat paid the Rs. 5 crore fee, and for the 37th National Games, the Government of Goa made the same payment. The Government of Uttarakhand must fulfill this obligation for the 38th National Games," it continued.

The IOA treasurer has urged PT Usha to engage with the Government of Uttarakhand to secure the remaining balance of Rs. 2.5 crores before the Games commence.

"You are requested to discuss this matter with the Government of Uttarakhand to ensure the immediate receipt of the remaining Rs. 2.5 crores prior to the start of the Games," he detailed in his letter.

In 2023, the Uttarakhand government reiterated its commitment to hosting the National Games with all 34 agreed-upon sports, and infrastructure development is reportedly progressing well. The IOA president and the Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) have approved a total of 32 sports disciplines along with four demonstration sports events for the 38th National Games.
