ISL 2024-25: Chennaiyin FC and Hyderabad FC Look to Recover from Recent Losing Streaks

Chennai, Dec 10 (NationPress) Chennaiyin FC is gearing up to challenge Hyderabad FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 this Wednesday.
The urgency for both teams to change their fortunes is palpable, as Chennaiyin FC currently holds the ninth position in the league standings, having accrued 12 points from 11 matches, which includes three wins. In contrast, Hyderabad FC has managed to gather seven points from their 10 games, thanks to two victories and a single draw. Both sides find themselves on a troubling three-match losing streak.
At present, Chennaiyin FC is just three points behind sixth-placed NorthEast United FC (15 points from 11 matches) and will be eager to close this gap and begin their ascent in the standings. Meanwhile, Hyderabad FC is looking for a swift turnaround, having two games in hand that provide a valuable chance to recover lost ground. However, the question remains: can they overcome the challenge posed by Chennaiyin FC, especially away from home?
This season, Chennaiyin FC has scored 16 goals across 11 matches, yet they have been unable to find the net in their last three outings. Compounding their woes, they have failed to score in their last two meetings against Hyderabad FC and have only triumphed in one of their last six encounters. Coach Owen Coyle understands that breaking this streak will require a consistent offensive approach, something the enthusiastic home crowd could help inspire.
On the other hand, Hyderabad FC has conceded the most goals in the first half of the ISL 2024-25 season (11), which forces their match strategies to adapt and often results in playing catch-up—costing them crucial points. They must take control of the game moving forward, a shift they could implement starting from this upcoming match.
Recent performances show Hyderabad FC has struggled to score in four out of their last six games. Interestingly, their two victories during this period came only when they found the back of the net: a commanding 4-0 win against Mohammedan SC and a narrow 2-1 win over Kerala Blasters FC. They have shown glimpses of their offensive capabilities, and it is now imperative for them to convert opportunities into goals.
Coach Owen Coyle of Chennaiyin FC expressed his respect for Hyderabad FC and praised the talent within their squad.
“Hyderabad FC has numerous skillful players, including some remarkable Indian talents. Many of them have performed admirably. We approach tomorrow night's game with great respect. Our aim is to be positive and strive for victory from the very first minute,” Coyle stated.
Additionally, Shameel Chembakath, the assistant coach of Hyderabad FC, expressed optimism about his team's return to form, noting their commitment to addressing areas needing improvement.
“We are fully aware of the aspects we need to enhance when results are not favorable. Football comprises its share of ups and downs. Our training is progressing well. We are embracing this challenge positively, and we will bounce back,” Chembakath remarked.
