ISL 2024-25: Chennaiyin FC Optimistic About Away Match Against Mumbai City FC

Chennai, Dec 19 (NationPress) Chennaiyin FC is set to pursue their second straight win in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 when they clash with the champion team Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday.

Acting in place of the ailing Owen Coyle, assistant coach Wilson shared updates on player availability amidst a recent virus outbreak within the team. He confirmed that Ryan Edwards, Lukas Brambilla, and Ankit Mukherjee have returned to training, while the suspended Connor Shields and the recuperating Elsinho Dias are the only players confirmed to miss the Mumbai match.

In the last game, Elsinho had to be carried off the field due to injury. Wilson commented on this situation, stating: “Such incidents are part of the game. Head coach Owen Coyle is very seasoned; he knows how to handle these circumstances, and he has been communicating with the players on how to proceed this week. We are eager to see Elsinho recover and return to the squad.”

Also present at the press briefing was summer recruit Kiyan Nassiri, who shared his experience thus far and outlined his personal objectives for the season.

“I am putting in my utmost effort during training. Ultimately, it’s up to the coach to decide who makes it into the starting eleven; my role is to train hard, maintain a positive mindset, and give 100 percent every day. If the coach thinks I’m ready to play, I’ll be there,” Kiyan stated. “My aim is to improve every season. I always aspire to win something with the club, and I hope we can achieve that this year.”

In their previous encounter with Mumbai City in the reverse fixture, Chennaiyin FC managed an exciting 1-1 draw at the Marina Arena, where Edwards netted his first goal of the season.
