Bengaluru, April 3 (NationPress) New Zealand cricket legend Kane Williamson commended Mohammad Siraj for his remarkable bowling display against his previous team, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He noted that the right-arm pacer bowled with unmatched intensity and spearheaded the Gujarat Titans' attack with fervor, contributing to their eight-wicket victory at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Siraj produced an extraordinary spell, taking 3 wickets for just 19 runs. His early breakthroughs were pivotal, earning him the Player of the Match accolade, as he helped reduce RCB to a dire 42-4 before they managed to post 169 runs at the end of their 20 overs.
“Siraj is clearly well-acquainted with the conditions at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He bowled with real fire in his belly, leading the attack with aggression and impressive pace. His performance justified his being named Player of the Match. While Jos Buttler showcased brilliance in the second innings, it was Siraj who set the crucial tone early, making a major impact for GT,” Williamson remarked on JioHotstar.
In pursuit of 170 runs, captain Shubman Gill (14) and Sai Sudharsan (49) provided GT with a rapid start. Subsequently, wicketkeeper Jos Buttler dazzled with an explosive innings, smashing Livingstone for a six and reaching his fifty off 31 balls.
Additionally, Rutherford made a notable contribution with a swift 30 runs off 18 balls, while Buttler remained not out at 73, guiding the team to chase down the target in just 17.5 overs, marking GT's second consecutive win in IPL 2025.
“Joining a new team always brings a refreshing change, and that's exactly what Jos Buttler has experienced at Gujarat Titans. It’s an excellent environment. What I really appreciate about Jos right now is that, unlike many big hitters in other teams who aim for sixes on every ball, he stays fully committed to his game plan,” Williamson added.
“Over the past eight years, he has been consistently among the best batters and a match-winner in world cricket. We witnessed that again tonight, which is a positive sign for GT as the tournament progresses,” Williamson further noted.
With four points from three matches, GT is currently ranked fourth in the standings and will aim to maintain their winning streak against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
