New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) The current 3P national champion and international shooter from India, Kiran Ankush Jadhav, continued his impressive performance by clinching the men’s 10m air rifle title at the prestigious 23rd Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial (KSSM) Shooting Championship, hosted at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
The Navy marksman, who is set to represent the Indian team in the upcoming World Cup in Munich next month, scored a remarkable 251.5 over 24 shots, securing victory over two competitors from the Army, Vivek Sharma and Vishal Singh.
Vivek finished just 1.4 points behind Kiran, earning the silver medal, while Vishal secured bronze after a shoot-off against Vivek, both having tied at 230.1 after 22 shots.
In the junior men’s division, Parth Rakesh Mane from Maharashtra triumphed, edging out Uma Mahesh Maddineni of Andhra Pradesh by the slimmest margin of 0.1 in a nail-biting final.
Uma Mahesh led by 0.3 points heading into the final shot, but despite scoring 10.0, he fell short as Parth fired a 10.4 to seize victory. Naraen Suresh from Karnataka took home the bronze.
Abhinav Shaw secured a fourth gold medal at the championship, winning the men’s air rifle youth title with a score of 252.2 in the final, finishing 0.5 points ahead of Parth, preventing him from achieving a double victory that day. Guruu Sabari from Tamil Nadu earned the bronze with a score of 230.3.
Earlier, the 17-year-old Abhinav Shaw showcased his skills in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event, capturing all three available gold medals in this Olympic discipline. Notably, the West Bengal shooter, recognized as the youngest medalist at the Nationals, is also the reigning junior world champion in the mixed team category.
In the senior final, Abhinav partnered with Mehuli Ghosh, a World Championship bronze medalist, and they decisively defeated the Railways duo of Meghana Sajjanar and Shahu Tushar Mane with a score of 16-4. The bronze medal went to Elavenil Valarivan and Smit Rameshbhai Moradiya from Gujarat.
In the junior category, Abhinav teamed up with Swati Chowdhury to secure a 16-12 victory over Shambhavi and Parth Rakesh Mane from Maharashtra in a closely contested final. Abhinav Agrawal and Gautami Bhanot claimed bronze for Madhya Pradesh, marking Gautami's first medal of the day.
