Bengaluru, April 11 (NationPress) KL Rahul praised Tristain Stubbs as ‘one of the top cricketers of the future’ after the pair led the Delhi Capitals to a six-wicket win against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday.

Rahul remained unbeaten at 93 off 53 balls, featuring seven fours and six sixes, while Stubbs contributed 38 not out off 23 balls. Together, they formed a remarkable 111-run partnership for the fifth wicket, the best for DC in this position, sealing the victory with 13 balls to spare.

“Stubbsy has been outstanding from the very first match, and what many lower-order batsmen often miss is the recognition for their performances. It’s challenging to step in with a high run rate, on a tricky pitch, especially when you realize many batsmen have already departed. There’s immense pressure. Having batted at number six myself, I understand how tough it is to perform in the lower order, so credit is due to him,” said Rahul.

“He is an exceptional player and is destined to become one of the finest cricketers in the upcoming years. He is robust, powerful, with an array of shots, an excellent fielder, a valuable team player, and a delightful person to have around. I hope this IPL season helps him evolve into the superstar he is capable of being,” added Rahul in a video shared by DC.

With four wickets down, Delhi found themselves in a tricky situation when Stubbs came to the crease, but the duo maintained their aggressive approach and navigated the middle overs without losing another wicket. Rahul targeted the bowlers to score occasional boundaries, while Stubbs bided his time and executed his innings astutely.

At 99/4 after 14 overs, Rahul decided to accelerate the game, taking on Josh Hazlewood in the 15th over.

With 22 runs scored off Hazlewood, DC moved closer to their target, and Stubbs also joined the assault, smashing a four and a six off Suyash Sharma.

Rahul concluded the match on a high note in the 18th over, scoring 23 runs with a ball to spare. He hit a six towards fine leg to clinch the victory, as the Delhi Capitals secured four consecutive wins, remaining the only unbeaten team so far.
