Mumbai, May 15 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and former India cricket captain Rohit Sharma are set to grace the Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) stand reveal ceremony at Wankhede Stadium this Friday.
During this event, the MCA will officially unveil the Sharad Pawar Stand, Rohit Sharma Stand, Ajit Wadekar Stand, and the MCA Office Lounge in honor of the late former MCA president Amol Kale.
According to a statement from the MCA, The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, will mark his presence at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) Stand Reveal Ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday.
Alongside the Chief Minister, the event will also welcome MCA president Ajinkya Naik, members of the Apex Council, former MCA president Sharad Pawar, and India's captain Rohit Sharma.
Last month, during its 86th Annual General Meeting, the MCA unanimously voted to rename Divecha Pavilion Level 3 as the Rohit Sharma Stand, Grand Stand Level 3 as the Sharad Pawar Stand, and Grand Stand Level 4 as the Ajit Wadekar Stand at Wankhede Stadium.
“These stands and this lounge shall forever echo the legacy of those who built Mumbai’s cricketing spirit - brick by brick, run by run,” stated MCA president Naik.
Rohit, who recently stepped away from Test cricket, has been a cornerstone of Mumbai cricket and has successfully led India to consecutive ICC victories, including the T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025.
Since his debut in 2007, the opening batter has represented India in numerous formats, including 159 T20Is, 273 ODIs, and 67 Test matches. He officially concluded his T20I career after triumphing in the World Cup in Barbados last year.
