New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) Following his impressive score of 52 in the Lucknow Super Giants' five-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad during IPL 2025, opening all-rounder Mitchell Marsh described the experience of batting alongside Nicholas Pooran as truly fascinating. Pooran led the charge with a stunning 70 runs off just 26 deliveries, boasting a remarkable strike rate of 269.23.
"The only term that captures it is 'fascinating'. I’ve faced off against Nicky (Pooran) for many years, and typically, I’ve found myself on the wrong side of such explosive innings. Now that we're on the same team, I feel a strong connection with him both personally and as a teammate I hope to bat with more often," Marsh stated.
“To be honest, there wasn’t a lot of communication. When someone is in the zone like he was, the focus is on building a partnership and keeping the momentum going. He was nearly unstoppable today," Marsh added, noting it was his second half-century of the tournament.
He also praised all-rounder Sardul Thakur for his exceptional bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for 34 runs and preventing a powerful SRH batting lineup from dominating the match. "I thought Shardul bowled brilliantly and set the tone for us early on. Facing batsmen like Abhishek and Travis Head, you feel the pressure immediately, but Shardul used his experience very effectively," said Marsh.
"His bowling, particularly towards the end, was outstanding. Overall, it was a commendable all-around performance, and it's great to kick off the tournament with a victory. We focused on our strengths and our game plan," Marsh elaborated.
"I believe we adhered to our strategy well. There’s no room for complacency in the IPL. Every team possesses a formidable lineup. Winning against such teams will hopefully boost our confidence," Marsh remarked.
Marsh concluded by commending pacer Prince Yadav, who took 1 wicket for 29 runs, including the crucial wicket of the dangerous Travis Head.
