New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) As they prepare for their upcoming match against the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 season, players from the Mumbai Indians, such as Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Deepak Chahar, and Karn Sharma, paid a visit to the Ram Mandir located in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
A photo shared by the franchise on social media on Thursday showcased Suryakumar and Deepak accompanied by their wives, Devisha and Jaya, respectively.
In their latest match against the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, the Mumbai Indians achieved a commanding eight-wicket victory, breaking their two-match losing streak during their first home game at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.
Ryan Rickelton delivered an outstanding performance with an unbeaten half-century after young debutant pacer Ashwani Kumar wreaked havoc on KKR with his four-wicket haul, leading MI to their first points at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday evening.
Ashwani initially stole the spotlight with remarkable figures of 4-24, marking the best debut performance by an Indian bowler in the IPL, as KKR was dismissed for 116 runs in 16.2 overs. Subsequently, Rickelton's unbeaten 62 off 41 balls ensured MI chased down 117 runs effortlessly in just 12.5 overs.
Following their first victory of the season, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya expressed his contentment and praised the franchise scouts for identifying talent like Ashwani.
"Winning, especially at home, is very gratifying. The way we executed it as a team, with everyone contributing - I couldn't be happier. Selecting one player here and there is always challenging. However, our team is well-organized with the players we are supporting. This wicket provided additional assistance, and we believed Ashwani could bowl exceptionally well," remarked the all-rounder after the match.
"Firstly, this success is attributed to the scouts. All MI scouts have traveled extensively to discover these young talents. During a practice match, it was evident he had that speed and late swing, coupled with a unique bowling action and being a left-hander. The wicket of Russell was a pivotal moment, and witnessing a fast bowler leap for that catch of Quinton was impressive. As I mentioned earlier, it's a positive sign for everyone to contribute and kick off the tournament for us," he added.
Prior to the encounter against KKR, Mumbai faced consecutive defeats against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.
